No matter what your budget is or what you like to do, we’re sure that we have the right choice for you and your family in time for Christmas. So, let’s get into it and help you plan your fun family-friendly London activities this Christmas!
Christmas Shopping at Oxford Street
First up, there isn’t much better than some classic Christmas shopping at Oxford Street. Park at Oxford Street London parking, get the tube or train into Oxford Circus or walk from across the city as it is very central, and let the festivities begin. From the classic highstreet shops to stunning designer boutiques, this road has over 300 shops, so you’ll be spoilt for choice. Not to mention, the street is lined with some of Britain’s most iconic department stores, which go above and beyond over the Christmas period to really make things special. You can go in and out of the shops as you please, enjoying the stunning Christmas lights along the way, and then stop off for a festive lunch or drink to rest the legs before the retail therapy continues! This is such a great way to start feeling really festive, so get your trip to Oxford Street in the diary and get ready for a wonderful day!
Winter Wonderland
Next up we have one of the most iconic festive activities to do in London in December which is Winter Wonderland! It doesn’t get much more festive than this, as you walk into the magical wonderland and find everything from handmade gifts and festive foods to fun rides and so many great attractions. You buy a ticket to enter the main area where you access all of the food and gift markets, and then you can pay for the rides separately. If you do want to experience any of the attractions like ice skating, the ice bar or meeting Santa, then you will need to book tickets for those separately as you can’t just turn up on the day and presume there will be space on the attractions. This is such a great thing to do, and it is particularly special at night when everything is lit up. Winter Wonderland is located in Hyde Park, again, a super central location to help you explore London before or after you attend!
Covent Garden
One of the most magical places you can go for festive fun in December is Covent Garden. The decorations are amazing, the lights are breathtaking, the shops all put in so much effort to make it magical and you will experience some of the country’s best street performers. After a bit of shopping and exploring the market, head out to the West Piazza on the hour and experience the magical snowfall that covers the area! Then, head into one of the bars for a mulled wine or a cosy hot chocolate, or for a meal, as there are so many delicious restaurants all around the area. You could even book a theatre show in the West End which is just a few minutes walk from Covent Garden, as there are so many wonderful festive shows on throughout December (just make sure to book this in advance). You can stop off at a few of the wonderful bars and restaurants on the way there too, as they line the streets! From A Christmas Carol to some of the best pantomimes that the country has to offer, this is such a great activity for all of the family. Our advice when it comes to Covent Garden, and all of these places in fact, is to avoid them on Saturday’s, as everything is super busy and might distract from how magical they can be. So, head into London on a Sunday or a weekday for the ultimate festive experience.
