L’Hospitalet de Llobregat And Calldetenes Ask Banks Not To Close Their Municipal Offices

L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Calldetenes ask banks not to close their municipal offices. They criticize the loss of jobs and warn of the danger of the digital divide and the exclusion of part of the population.

The town councils of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelonès) and Calldetenes (Osona) have approved motions in which they ask the banks that operate in the respective municipalities not to close their offices .

On the one hand, the approved texts criticize the ” disappearance of tens of thousands of jobs throughout the State and especially in Catalonia”, while warning that fewer offices will mean an “increase” in the digital divide and “exclusion” financial services for a part of the population.

They also lament the “logistical difficulties” that the closure of offices will mean for the commercial sector, the “contempt for the elderly and people with reduced mobility” or the “neglect” of the rural world.

For all these reasons, the two municipalities have agreed to transfer to all the banking entities that operate in the municipalities the “disagreement” over the closure of branches, as well as the request that, in the open branches, there be “sufficient personnel” to attend to the citizenship.
